The popularity of electronic business practices has changed the way people do business. But whether or not an online invoice system will be helpful or detrimental is based entirely on the nature of the business itself. People have to consider how their companies work and who they cater to before making the switch.
Is customer service important?
If a company thrives off of its personable staff and employees, making drastic electronic changes may not be ideal. Most traditional companies still employ admin assistants in order to carry out seemingly menial duties. While these employees may work slower than a computer system, they offer a bright and cheery presence for clients who come into an office. Very often clients will stay loyal to a business if they know who the staff are. The bad thing about an online invoice system is that the human element is lost. If a company thrives off of personal service, then it may not want to adopt an electronic medium.
Does a company sell products or services?
Product-orientated businesses tend to thrive when productivity and convenience are maximized. Keeping track of sold items, creating bills, and receiving payments have to be done swiftly and efficiently. A free invoice system is great for these types of companies because these duties can be done quickly and at little cost. Profit is maximized and sold units are kept track of. However, service-orientated businesses may not do well with electronic systems because the personal nature of the company is diminished. While free invoices will be convenient for these types of companies, the impersonal nature of them will result in lost revenue.
The popularity of technology in today’s commercial world has changed the way businesses operate. A company can either go with the times or against them. The decision should be based upon the priorities of the company and of their clientele.
